Sophie
Sophie Abbott is a prolific abstract landscape painter based at Phoenix Art Space in Brighton. Her paintings are a spontaneous and sensual reaction to the landscape or sea with a joyous and strong use of colour and full of areas of expressive mark making, which compliment expansive colour drenched areas of paint. A constant source of inspiration are the ever-changing seas and skies on the south coast, and the landscapes she visits on her travels. Her paintings are exhibited in gallery shows, at Art Fairs and have also appeared on TV.
“A painting begins in so many places, whether its the seaside, a beautiful sunset, a lido, or the landscape on a road trip. It’s not what it is in a practical sense, but the composition, shape and colour that excites me.”
Interiors
Sophie is a prolific artist whose striking paintings adorn homes worldwide. She has a loyal following of collectors and shows in galleries, at art fairs and directly from her studio in Brighton. Her paintings are chosen by interior designers to compliment their room schemes or set designs. They have appeared on set in a variety of primetime TV series, on packaging for an international drinks brand, and she recently collaborated with HABITAT on a beautiful wool rug which sold out in days! She also takes on private commissions and is keen to collaborate so get in touch if you have a project in mind.
